Where to Buy a Kashmiri Pheran in Delhi (2026): Markets, Emporiums and Online
In short: in Delhi you can buy a Kashmiri pheran at Dilli Haat, the state emporiums near Connaught Place, Janpath, Lajpat Nagar or from the winter traders, or order one from Kashmir itself. KAARKASH sends pherans from Srinagar to every Delhi pincode: delivery free, cash on delivery for most addresses, 3 to 5 days prepaid.
Buying in Delhi, place by place
Delhi has more Kashmiri winter wear than any city outside the valley, and the range runs from printed acrylic at a few hundred rupees to tilla-worked raffal at several thousand. Roughly, this is what each place offers.
| Where | What you will find | Rough price | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dilli Haat, INA | Craft stalls that change every fortnight; Kashmiri sellers mostly from October to February, aari and tilla pherans, shawls | ₹1,500 to ₹6,000 | Entry ticket; bargaining is expected; no returns |
| State emporiums, Baba Kharak Singh Marg | The Jammu and Kashmir emporium near Connaught Place: fixed prices, pherans, shawls, papier-mâché | ₹2,000 to ₹8,000 | Fixed price, bills, quieter; a smaller range in pherans than in shawls |
| Janpath and the Tibetan Market | Mixed: some embroidered pherans, many printed or lightly worked acrylic pieces | ₹700 to ₹2,500 | Ask what the cloth is; most "wool" here is acrylic |
| Lajpat Nagar Central Market | Kashmiri shawl and pheran shops that stay open all year | ₹1,200 to ₹5,000 | Good for seeing raffal and cashmilon side by side |
| Sarojini Nagar | Export surplus and copies; a pheran-shaped acrylic kurta rather than a pheran | ₹400 to ₹1,200 | Cheap and fine for a season; not Kashmiri work |
| Winter traders in colonies | Kashmiri families who come down for the season with shawls and a few pherans, near metro stations and in colony markets | ₹1,000 to ₹4,000 | Often real work at fair prices; no bill, no return |
Prices are what you will see in 2026; they move with the season and with how well you bargain.
Buying from Kashmir, delivered to Delhi
The other way is to order from the valley. KAARKASH pherans are made in Kashmir and sent from Srinagar. Delhi is our second largest market after Uttar Pradesh: 269 orders went to Delhi addresses in the past twelve months, and Haryana and the rest of the NCR add many more.
- Delivery is free to every Delhi pincode. Prepaid orders usually arrive in 3 to 5 days; cash on delivery orders in 8 to 13.
- Cash on delivery is available for most Delhi addresses. Enter your pincode on any product page to check.
- Prices run from about ₹1,200 to ₹4,200: cashmilon with aari or sozni at the low end, raffal wool with tilla or our Meeras line at the top. Our pheran price guide lists each line.
- Measurements are on every product page, with a size guide in inches and centimetres. Pherans come in one size, L - XXL; the pheran size guide shows where the hem falls at your height.

Shop or online: which is better?
A shop lets you feel the cloth and try the length, and at Dilli Haat or a winter trader you may pay less for the same work if you bargain well. Ordering from Kashmir gets you the piece as it is made there, with the fabric named, the measurements written down, a bill, a tracked parcel and cash on delivery. If you know your measurements, or you want a specific embroidery such as sozni or tilla, order it. If you want to try three on and walk out with one, go to Dilli Haat in the winter months or to Lajpat Nagar.
What to check before you pay, anywhere
- The cloth, by name. Cashmilon, raffal, wool or pashmina. A seller who says only "wool" for a ₹900 piece is selling acrylic.
- The embroidery, up close. Chain-stitch loops are aari; tiny flat stitches are sozni; a metallic shine is tilla. Printed "embroidery" is flat and has no thread on the back. Our guide to aari, sozni and tilla shows how to tell them apart.
- The length. Our pherans are 40 to 44 inches long and fall below the knee. Many Delhi market pieces are cut shorter, as kurtas.
- Pockets. A real pheran has them on both sides.
- The back of the work. Turn the hem. Neat, dense thread on the back means the embroidery is worked, not printed.
- The bill and the return rule. Markets rarely give either. An online seller must.
