About Kashmiri Kurtis

A Kashmiri kurti is a tunic finished with Kashmiri embroidery. Ours are short summer kurtis in cotton, light enough for warm days and neat enough for work, worn with jeans, straight trousers or a palazzo. They are made in Kashmir and sent from Srinagar.

Fabric. Soft, breathable cotton.

Embroidery. Most carry aari, a looped chain stitch that gives bold floral lines. The sozni kurtis have finer, flatter motifs, and the chinar kurtis carry the chinar leaf, the emblem of Kashmir. All of it is hand-assisted manual work; it is not handmade.

Size. Most of our kurtis are size M, with a 40 to 42 inch bust and a 32 to 37 inch length; S, L, XL and free size are listed where we have them. Every product page gives its own measurements, so check them before you order.

Care. Dry clean only.

What is a Kashmiri kurti?

A kurti, a short tunic, finished with Kashmiri embroidery such as aari or sozni. Ours are short cotton kurtis, made in Kashmir.

What is the difference between aari and sozni work?

Aari is a looped chain stitch that gives bold, flowing floral lines. Sozni is finer and flatter, worked in small, close motifs.

Are your kurtis handmade?

No. They are hand-assisted manual work, made in Kashmir. Small differences in thread colour from one piece to the next are normal.

What size should I buy?

Most of our kurtis are size M, with a 40 to 42 inch bust and a 32 to 37 inch length. Compare the measurements on the product page with a kurti that fits you well. Returns are only for damaged, defective or wrong items, so please check before you order.

What do I wear with a short kurti?

Jeans, straight trousers, a palazzo or a churidar.

How do I wash it?

Dry clean only. Do not machine wash or wring the embroidery.

Do you deliver across India, and can I pay on delivery?
