Kaftans: the pieces

About Kaftans

A kaftan is a long, loose dress that falls in a relaxed line from the shoulders. Ours have a notched neckline and full sleeves, with Kashmiri embroidery, and are made in Kashmir and sent from Srinagar: easy at home, for a lunch or on holiday.

Fabric. Crush cotton: soft and breathable, with a light crinkled texture. The colour is double-dyed for richer, layered tones.

Embroidery. Floral and paisley work along the neckline and the sides. It is hand-assisted manual work; it is not handmade.

Size. One size, cut loose to fit up to XL.

How to wear it. On its own, or over straight pants or a churidar.

Care. Dry clean only; do not bleach.
