About Unstitched Suits

An unstitched suit is the fabric for a suit, embroidered and ready for your tailor, so the fit and the cut are your own. Ours are Kashmiri suits in cotton, made in Kashmir and sent from Srinagar.

What you get. 4.5 metres of fabric for the top and the bottom together. Most are 2-piece sets: top and bottom.

Fabric. Crush cotton on most; a few are alpine cotton.

Embroidery. Aari on most, in floral sprays (gul), small scattered motifs (botti) or the chinar leaf; a few carry tilla, worked in metallic thread. All of it is hand-assisted manual work; it is not handmade.

Care. Dry clean only.

What is an unstitched suit?

Embroidered fabric for a suit, not yet sewn. Your tailor cuts and stitches it to your measurements and the style you like.

How much fabric is in a set?

4.5 metres for the top and the bottom together.

What do gul, botti and tilla mean?

Gul means flowers, botti means small scattered motifs, and tilla is embroidery in metallic gold or silver thread. Most of our suits are worked in aari, a looped chain stitch.

Is the embroidery handmade?

No. It is hand-assisted manual work, made in Kashmir. Small differences in thread colour from one suit to the next are normal.

How do I wash it?

Dry clean only, also once it is stitched.

Do you deliver across India, and can I pay on delivery?

Yes. Delivery is free across India. Cash on delivery is available for most pincodes: enter yours on any product page to check. Prepaid orders usually arrive in 3 to 5 days and cash on delivery orders in 8 to 15.
